From year to year working on the board for Les Gourmets has a way of turning a group of students into a family. Spending much of the year together in meetings, socials, and team involvement with other clubs & events, the individuals who spend the year planning this event truly get a sense of what it means to be a community. Reaching out to local businesses and farms, talented young individuals on campus and in the Lansing area, and showcasing the wonderful resources that Michigan has to offer reminds each of us why this sense of community is so important.
Taking our Pure Michigan theme to heart, the board really wanted to take our passion beyond just the Michigan State Campus. Reaching out to the youth in Lansing at the Gateway Community Center was a great way for us to get in touch with the people who we consider our neighbors. It was an incredible opportunity for us to share our passion for food and make connections with not only the youth, but further the ones we have with one another. This year Les Gourmets is not only giving back to our faculty, friends, alumni, and family but now also to our community. Making efforts to better ourselves, the event, and the place we call home.
